Northern Rough-winged Swallows are the most common swallow species at Furman. They also tend to arrive the earliest. In 2009, this species was first seen on March 20th. Northern Rough-winged Swallows have been observed in several locations around campus, including the golf course pond, Furman Lake, and the football practice fields. Three of these birds are depicted on the banner of this website.
