Indigo Buntings arrive each spring and leave each fall, with the population remaining steady throughout the summer months. These birds like open forests with broken canopies. The Vinings apartment complex is a reliable place to find them in the summer months. In breeding season, males show a vibrant blue plumage while females retain a dull brown with hints of blue on their primary feathers.
