 Chipping Sparrow
   Spizella passerina

Status:

Common

SP, S, F

Chipping Sparrows are present throughout the year, but their numbers increase slightly in spring. They retain a steady population through summer. The favorite dwelling place of Chipping Sparrows seems to be patches of older pine trees, such as those on the golf course or at Montague Village. However, they can be found in many other habitats on campus.
