 Black-and-white Warbler
   Mniotilta varia

Status:

Occasional

 SP, F

Black-and-white Warblers can be found on campus during both spring and fall migrations. The Black-and-White Warbler's summer range extends into the northwest corner of South Carolina, making it a possible occurrence on campus during the summer months. These birds act much like nuthatches and creepers, circling around tree trunks and branches in search of food. This bird has been recorded multiple times in varying locations, but always in woodsy areas.
