The Furman Forest

Furman University faculty and students are conducting surveys of various taxonomic groups, following the "All Taxa Biological Inventories" conducted at state and national parks. This mammal survey began in Summer 2009, and was conducted by Taylor Cannon (left-Biology major at FU, class 0f 2010) with help from Tim Ward (Right-North Greenville University) and Corey McCubbin (high school student, not pictured). The survey was conducted using Sherman live traps and motion-sensitive cameras. As surveys progress, we will activate the links for surveyed groups. Dr. Mark Yates conducted the bat surveys. Through this research, we hope to catalog the species that are present and track changes in populations of special concern. Scoll over the names to see pictures of the species.
