The Furman Forest

Furman University faculty and students are conducting surveys of various taxonomic groups, following the "All Taxa Biological Inventories" conducted at state and national parks. This survey of butterflies was conducted in summer 2011 by Amelia Schulz, Furman Biology major (class of 2013). The survey was conducted using light traps and aerial nets. As surveys progress, we will activate the links for surveyed groups. Through this research, we hope to catalog the species that are present and track changes in populations of special concern. Scroll over the names to see images of the species. * indicates new state record for South Carolina.
