THE "OFFICIAL" BIO
Mezzo soprano Trudy Hines Fuller has appeared with such major
American opera companies as the Houston Grand Opera and the Lyric
Opera of Chicago where she appeared as both Rosina and Bertha in
The Barber of Seville. In the Southeast, she has sung
the role
of Carmen with the Columbia Lyric Opera and the roles of Amneris
and Dido with the Brevard Music Center. Other regional theatre
appearances have been as Ulrica in Un Ballo in Maschera and
Hansel in Hansel and Gretel with the Albuquerque Opera
Theatre
and the Four Corners Opera. As an oratorio and concert soloist,
she has sung the Verdi Requiem, the Brahms Alto Rhapsody,
Handel’s Messiah, and the Beethoven Ninth Symphony
with orchestras
such as Brevard Music Center under the direction of Robert
Shaw and the
Greenville Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Peter Rickett.
Dr. Fuller has appeared as a soloist with the Hendersonville (NC)
Symphony
Orchestra singing Elgar’s Sea Pictures. She is a
graduate
of the University
of Arizona where she earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree
in vocal
performance. Dr. Fuller teaches singing at Furman University.
At Furman's 2003
Commencement,
she received the Alester G. Furman, Jr.,
and Janie Earle Furman
Award for Meritorious Teaching.
