NOTES:
(1) All 'creative' projects (i.e. ones that are not a research paper) require
submission of a 1-2 page description of how you used technological tools to
express your creative ideas.
(2) Regardless of the type of project (research paper, GarageBand, video, etc),
I encourage you to submit, either in writing or by e-mail, a short explanation
of why you feel your work is musically significant, interesting or original;
how it demonstrates mastery of the applications used; or anything else you think
would help me to appreciate your work.
Projects should be submitted in the following formats:
Audio projects: Burn an audio CD. Label clearly with your name, class time, and title of project. Include some sort of protective case. Be sure to test your CD to make sure it plays in an audio CD player. Use a CD-R, not a CD-RW!!
Video projects:
Option 1: Burn a DVD. Label clearly with your name, class time, and title of
project. Include some sort of protective case. Be sure to test your DVD to make
sure it plays in a standard DVD player. Please remember that I will be grading
largely on the audio content, with a secondary emphasis on the video.
Option 2: Burn a CD-R data disk as follows:
1. From in iMovie, once you have your final movie completed, go to Share menu
-> Quicktime.
2. Under compress movie menu, select “CD-ROM”. Click Share. Give
the movie a name and save it to the disk. It may take a few minutes to compress.
When it completes, quit iMovie.
3. Open the folder on disk that contains your movie. (It should have a .mov
suffix after the name of the movie). From the File menu, select “New Burn
Folder”. This will create a “burn folder” in the same folder
as your movie. Change the name of the burn folder to your name and your Music
17 section. Drag the icon of your compressed movie (the one with the .mov suffix
and Quicktime icon) to the burn folder you just created.
4. Select the burn folder and click the “Burn” button in the upper
right hand corner of the window. When prompted, insert a blank CD-R. When finished
eject your disc.
Research papers: Submit a print-out on standard 8.5 x 11" paper, fastened by a staple or other permanent clasp. (Please don't just turn down the corners!) Label clearly with your name, class time, and title of paper.
