Some useful words show up in the collection with many suffixes. The root word "slav-", for example, shows up as slave, slaves, slavery, slaveholding, etc. TACTweb allows you to search using such prefixes (or suffixes). The main "truncation" or "wildcard" operator for this is the ".*" pattern. Try typing slav.* in the box below.

Analysis to Perform:

Explaining the Results: The system produces a KWIC display for every different word in the collection that begins with the word "slav" and has any other additional letters. This will work with suffixes as well. Try searching for ".*soil" to see all the words ending in the letters -soil.
