CLEMSON VOLLEYBALL TEAM DEFEATS FURMAN, 3-0

CLEMSON, SC -The Clemson volleyball team, ranked 15th nationally, defeated Furman 3-0 (15-0, 15-4, 15-2) Saturday afternoon in Jervey Gym to win the Clemson Invitational. Clemson senior Alison Coday was named tournament MVP after hitting .535 with 25 kills, two errors and 43 attempts in the tournament.
Coday led the Tigers against Furman, hitting .667 with eight kills, no errors and 12 attempts. She had five service aces and five digs in the match. Senior Cindy Stern was named to the all-tournament team. Against the Paladins, she had 14 kills, two errors and 23 attempts for a .522 attack percentage. She also added six digs and three blocks for the Tigers.
Freshman setter Jessi Betcher also represented Clemson on the all-tournament team. For the tournament she had 69 assists in five games, for an average of 13.80 assists per game. Against Furman, Betcher led the team with 20 assists and seven digs.
Junior Brooke Jackson and freshman Carrie Rowley represented Furman on the all-tournament team. Against Clemson Rowley hit .269 with 11 kills, four errors and 26 attempts and led the team with nine digs. Jackson had eight kills, five errors and 26 attempts against the Tigers. Sophomore Laura Hooks led the Paladins with 23 assists.
