FURMAN DOWNS APPALACHIAN STATE IN FIVE

BOONE, North Carolina -- Appalachian State won game three 15-13, taking a 2-1 lead in the match against the visiting Furman Paladins, before dropping the final two games Saturday afternoon at Varsity Gym. The host Mountaineers led 8-7 in game five, but Furman fought back utilizing rally scoring to take the 15-13 decision and victory in the match.

Brooke Jackson paced Furman was a match-high 23 kills on 36 attack attempts. Jackson also tallied a match-high four solo blocks. Carrie Rowley and Laura Bush surpassed double figures in kills, claiming 14 and 12, respectively. Rowley also tallied 13 digs, while Laura Hooks recorded 49 assists.

With the win Furman improves to 9-10 overall and 5-3 in Southern Conference action. The Lady Paladins will face Wofford this Tuesday, October 12, at 7 p.m. in Spartanburg, S.C.
