FURMAN DEFEATED BY UTC
Greenville, South Carolina--The Furman volleyball team was defeated by The University of Tennessee Chattanooga, Saturday, by a score of 3-2.
Chattanooga took an early lead in the match with a close 17-15 victory in game one. In game two Furman came out swinging and evened the match with a 15-5 victory. The Mocs returned the favor in game three, scoring a 15-3 win, but Furman came back again in game four with a 15-10 decision.
The Lady Paladins were paced by junior Kelly King with 16 kills and 23 digs, while freshman Laura Bush posted 23 kills offensively in the five game match. Chattanooga was paced by Carol Reedus' 19 kills, and Carmen Walker's 23 digs. Defensively, Furman claimed 108 digs to UTC's 97, but the Mocs had 11 blocks to Furman's four.
With the win UTC improves to 20-6 overall, and 14-3 in the Southern Conference, while Furman drop to 15-13 overall and 11-6 in the conference.
