Lady Paladins Drop 3-1 Decision to East Carolina

Continuing to play without the injured Laura Bush, Furman dropped its sixth consecutive match Friday night with a 3-1 (15-10, 13-15, 15-13, 15-13) decision to East Carolina in the Kansas Invitational in Lawrence.

The Lady Paladins were led offensively by Carrie Rowley, who totaled 21 kills on the night. Defensively, setter Laura Hooks totaled a team-high 17 digs, while Abby Simon and Whitney Jones each added nine.

The Bucs of ECU were led by Cinta Claro's 24 kills and Whitney Brawner's 23. In addition, ECU tallied 8.0 team blocks to the Lady Paladins' 3.0.

Furman will face the Jayhawks of Kansas Saturday at noon, followed at 5 p.m. with a match against West Virginia.
