FURMAN FALLS 3-1 TO BOSTON COLLEGE


TAMPA, Florida -- The Furman Lady Paladins dropped Boston College 18-16 in the first game of Saturday night's USF Volleyball Invitational match, but BC came storming back to win the next three games 15-12, 15-4, 15-9 and drop Furman to 0-3 on the year.

The Eagles were led by Brooke Schull, who tallied 30 kills and a .438 hitting percentage. Lauren Schwer added 22 digs and was good for 12 kills, while the BC team combined for 12 service aces.

Furman sophomore Abby Simon (Simpsonville, S.C.) scored a team high 20 kills for the Paladins, while Carrie Rowley added 15, Shawn Beckham totaled 12, and Amber Montague put down 10. Sim also led Furman defensively, with 19 digs, while Beckham and junior Laura Hooks each added 18. The Furman team combined for 10 blocks and were led by Beckhan's two solos and three assists.

The Lady Paladins will face the Eagles of Winthrop on Tuesday, Sept. 5, in a 7 p.m. match in Rock Hill, S.C.
