FURMAN DROPS TO 1-10 WITH FOUR-GAME LOSS TO UNCC


Furman's Lady Paladin volleyball team won game one against UNC Charlotte 15-13, but the 49ers came storming back to win the next three games 15-3, 15-10, 15-13, dropping Furman to 1-10 on the year.

Despite the loss, the Lady Paladins were led offensively by freshman Amber Montague, who tallied 10 kills on the night. Shawn Beckham and Laura Hooks totaled 16 and 15 digs, respectively, to pace the Furman defense, while Hooks added a team-high three block assists.

The 49ers were led by Christy Galvin and Kera Akgun, who each totaled 16 kills. Kathleen Ramos led the team with 15 digs.

The Lady Paladins will open the 2000 home season on Monday, Sept. 18, in a 6 p.m. contest against College of Charleston.
