FURMAN VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS WOFFORD, 3-1

Paladins finish regular season tied for second in Southern Conference

GREENVILLE, SCSophomore Carrie Rowley (Lighthouse Pt., FL) recorded 20 kills and 22 digs, while sophomore Laura Bush (Kingsport, TN) hit .486 with 20 kills and 19 digs to lead the Furman volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over Wofford on Monday night. The Paladins had four players in double-digits in both kills and digs in the 15-6, 9-15, 15-8, 15-10 win.

With the win, the Paladins improve to 16-16 overall and 15-5 in the Southern Conference, to finish the regular season tied with Chattanooga for second place in the league. The Terriers fall to 8-22 overall and 5-15 in the conference.

Paladin freshman Amber Montague (Plano, TX) tallied 16 kills and 12 digs, while sophomore Shawn Beckham (Summerville, SC) had 11 kills and 12 digs. Junior setter Laura Hooks (Kingsport, TN) led the team with 63 assists and added 15 digs for the Paladins.

Wofford sophomore Jana Webb (Pickens, SC) led the team with 16 kills, while junior Cristy Carter (Placerville, CA) added 16 digs. Sophomore Rebecca Paulson (Palm Harbor, FL) tallied 15 digs, and sophomore setter Molly Bushong (Lexington, KY) had 38 assists and 14 digs. Sophomore Currie Gossett (Mauldin, SC) led the team with six blocks.

Furman will compete in the Southern Conference Tournament November 16-19 in Charleston, SC.
