FURMAN DOWNS THE CITADEL 3-1 IN SOCON VOLLEYBALL ACTION
CHARLESTON, South Carolina -- The Furman volleyball team lost its first ever game to the Bulldogs of The Citadel Friday night in McAllister Field House, but the Lady Paladins recovered to take the 30-28, 30-27, 28-30, 30-19 victory and improve to 16-13 overall and 11-4 in the Southern Conference.
Four Lady Paladins recorded double digit kills in the win, with Amber Montague setting the pace with a team-high 17. Ally Hock and Caitlin White each totaled 14 kills, while Julia Fredrickson added 11. Furman’s defense was anchored by freshman Liz Hilliker, who totaled 11 digs, while Fredrickson recorded two block solos and two block assists to pace the Lady Paladins at the net. White also topped the Furman serving effort, with four aces on the night, while Ally Hock got her lone ace on the match’s final point.
The Citadel was paced by Audra Ritchie’s 16 kills and Stefanie Farris’ 11 digs, while Marina Daniel topped the net defense with three block solos and four assists.
Furman will face the Cougars of the College of Charleston Saturday in a 2 p.m. match in Charleston.
