THREE LADY PALADINS NAMED TO VOLLEYBALL PRESEASON TEAM;
FURMAN PICKED FOURTH


SPARTANBURG, SC -- The Southern Conference volleyball coaches picked Furman to finish fourth in the 2003 Southern Conference race, but awarded preseason all-conference laurels to three members of the Lady Paladin team. Georgia Southern was picked as the favorite to take home the 2003 regular season crown, with College of Charleston expected to finish second and Davidson and Furman in a close race for third and fourth, respectively.

Student-athletes from seven different institutions were named to the preseason all-league squad. College of Charleston and Furman led the way with three players each, including Stephanie Ballard, Sara Davis, and Alisa Long for the Cougars and Michelle Cauldwell, Amber Montague, and Caitlin White for the Paladins. Preseason favorite Georgia Southern is represented by Erin Martin and Martina Veiglova, the 2002 SoCon Player of the Year. Other selections include Appalachian Statešs Kali Rumberger, Chattanoogašs Kari Krouse, Davidsonšs Latisha Chapman and Nicole Tonelli, and Sara Komosinski from Western Carolina.
