Furman's Amber Montague Honored as SoCon Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, SC ‹ Furman's Amber Montague has been named the SoCon Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of September 8.

Montague, a senior outside hitter from Plano, TX (Plano HS), tallied 43 kills while posting a .306 hitting percentage and 30 digs in three matches this weekend. She recorded 20 kills against East Carolina in the championship match of the Furman Holiday Inn Express Downtown Invitational, leading the Paladins to the tournament title and a third straight victory, and earning tournament MVP honors for herself.

Montague's 43 kills pushed her over the 1,000-kill plateau for her career, making her the 11th woman in Lady Paladin history to do so.

Furman heads to Boston, Mass. this weekend to take part in the New England Challenge.
