APPALACHIAN STATE EDGES FURMAN VOLLEYBALL 3-2


GREENVILLE, South Carolina -- Appalachian State rallied from a 2-0 deficit to claim a 24-30, 25-30, 30-27, 30-26, 16-14 victory over Furman Friday night in volleyball action at Timmons Arena.

Stefanie Panzer paced the Mountaineers with 20 kills and 6 total blocks, while compiling a .760 hitting percentage. Samantha Giudici and Kali Rumberger added 14 and 13 kills respectively.

Amber Monatgue, who became just the seventh Lady Paladin in school history with 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs with her first dig in game one, led Furman with 20 kills and 16 digs. Freshman Whitney Purser also scored a double-double with 16 kills and 12 digs, while Ally Hock added 17 kills. Setter Molly Rybak recorded a match-high 68 assists for Furman.

The loss dropped Furman to 13-13 overall and 8-4 in the Southern Conference, while Appalachian State improved to 9-14 overall and 7-3 in league play.

The Lady Paladins return home to Timmons Arena on November 1, when Furman hosts Elon in a 1:00p.m. match.
