Lady Paladins Hold Off Catamounts 3-2

Cullowhee, N.C.. – The Lady Paladin volleyball team withstood a late Western Carolina rally to claim a 16-30, 30-26, 30-25, 21-30, 15-13 win over the Catamounts.

Senior Laura Bush (Kingsport, Tenn.) paced the Lady Paladins with a season-high 26 kills, while junior Amber Montague (Plano, Texas) added 16 kills and 13 digs.

Furman, who jumped out to a 2-1 lead befor being forced to a fifth and deciding game, also got 64 assists and 17 digs from setter Michelle Cauldwell.

The Catamounts placed four players in double figure kills led by Tricia Eble's 23 kills. Western Carolina's Michelle Gorton recorded 16 kills and 16 digs in the losing effort.

With its second win in as many days, Furman improves to 19-12 overall and 14-5 in the SoCon, while the Catamounts fall to 21-10 overall and 12-6 in Southern Conference play.

Furman Returns to action Tuesday night when it travels to Charlotte for a 7:00p.m. match.
