Simon Tabbed as SoCon Volleyball Player of the Week

Greenville, S.C.. ­ Furman outside hitter Abby Simon has been named Southern Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for October 8.

Simon recorded 53 kills in three matches last week, averaging 4.08 kills with a .429 hitting percentage. She also had 37 digs, three service aces and six blocks in three matches in which Furman defeated three Southern Conference opponents, Wofford (3-1), Appalachian State (3-1) and East Tennessee State (3-2), making them 7-1 in conference play.

Furman has won seven consecutive Southern Conference matches for the first time since 1998. Simon, a 5š10 senior from Simpsonville, SC, currently leads the team in kills (279), kills per game (3.58) and ranks second on Furmanšs all-time kills chart with 1,378 kills.

The Lady Paladins play host to Western Carolina in a 7:00p.m. match at Timmons Arena Wednesday.
