FURMAN VOLLEYBALL PICKED THIRD IN PRESEASON POLL

SPARTANBURG, South Carolina -- The results of the Southern Conference volleyball coaches' preseason poll has been tabulated and Furman has been picked to finish third in the league race behind College of Charleston and Georgia Southern.

In addition, Laura Bush (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Abby Simon (Simpsonville, S.C.) were picked as members of the 2002 preseason all-league team.

The Cougars of the College of Charleston were picked to win the Southern Conference, and five C of C players ­ Stephanie Ballard, Mary Sabatino, Sara Davis, Tara Greene, and Alisa Long ­ were chosen to the preseason all-league squad. The Eagles of Georgia Southern were picked to finish second and placed two on the preseason squad.
