FURMAN GOES 1-3 AT AIR FORCE INVITATIONAL
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado -- Furman’s Lady Paladin volleyball team posted a 1-3 record at the Air Force Invitational after falling 30-26, 17-30, 15-30, 30-28, 15-17 to Georgia State in the tournament’s final match Saturday evening.
Furman jumped out to an early lead, but fell behind 2-1 before bouncing back to win the fourth game. Game five was extremely close, with the Panthers pulling out the two-point squeaker.
Furman was led on the night by Laura Bush’s (Kingsport, Tenn.) 16 kills, while Abby Simon (Simpsonville, S.C.) added 13, Carrie Rowley (Lighthouse Point, Fla.) contributed 12 and Amber Montague (Plano, Texas) totaled 11. GSU was keyed offensively by Randi Van Dam’s 19 kills, while Lisa Lykins and Molly Sapp added 17 and Amanda Sapp contributed 12.
Furman, 5-7 overall and 0-1 in the Southern Conference, will return to league action Tuesday night with a 7 p.m. match at UNC Greensboro.
