East Tennessee State Downs Furman Volleyball 3-1
GREENVILLE, South Carolina -- Kate Steidle tallied 22 kills and a .472 hitting percentage to lead East Tennessee State to a 30-28, 30-26, 22-30, 30-24 victory over Furman in volleyball action Saturday afternoon at Timmons Arena. The Lady Buccaneers who jumped out to a 2-0 lead, received five kills, 52 assists and eight digs from setter Renee Vesey. ETSU's Nicole Ryan added 15 kills, while libero Karen Freeburg totalled a match-high 27 digs. Senior Abby Simon (Simpsonville, S.C.) and Laura Bush (Kingsport, Tenn.) led the Lady Paladins with 18 kills a piece, while junior Amber Montague recorded 15 kills and 14 digs. Furman drops to 17-12 overall and 12-5 in the Southern Conference, while East Tennessee State improves to 7-18 overall and 5-11 in the SoCon. Furman returns to action on November 9, when it travels to Chattanooga for a 2:00p.m. contest.
