College of Charleston Downs Furman Volleyball 3-1 Charleston, S.C.. – Five Cougars were in double-figures in kills as the College of Charleston volleyball team defeated the Furman Paladins 3-1 in action tonight at the John Kresse Arena. The win puts the Cougars at 17-5 overall and 10-2 in the Southern Conference while Furman falls to 14-11 on the year and 9-4 in the conference. All the games were tight as the Cougar edged the Paladins in the first game 30-35. In the second game the Paladins came away victorious with the 31-29 win. Although Furman battled to make the final two games close it was the Cougars out on top 30-28 and 30-25. Stephanie Ballard led the Cougars in kills with 17, while Tara Greene followed closely with 16. Alisa Long recorded 15 while Shawn Beckham took down 12. Rebecca Weiters had 11 to help pace the team. Sara Davis had 23 digs to lead the team defensively. Furman’s Carrie Rowley led the Paladins with 13 kills and 19 digs. Furman travels to The Citadel Saturday at 2:00 PM, while the Cougars host Wofford at 2:00 PM Saturday in the John Kresse Arena. CofC def. Furman 30-25, 29-31, 30-28, 30-25 | ||
