FURMAN VOLLEYBALL EDGES COUGARS 3-2
GREENVILLE, South Carolina -- The Furman volleyball team improved its record to 2-1 in Southern Conference play and 7-7 overall Friday night with a 30-27, 22-30, 30-23, 22-30, 15-13 win over the College of Charleston. Senior Abby Simon (Simpsonville, S.C.) paced the Lady Paladin effort with 18 kills, two service aces, 11 digs and four block assists, while Laura Bush (Kingsport, Tenn.) added 17 kills. Michelle Cauldwell (Satellite Beach, Fla.), a junior setter, contributed 57 assists, three service aces and 14 digs for the Lady Paladins. After the Cougars forced a fifth and deciding game, Furman jumped out to a 6-1 lead and held on for the 15-13 victory. Furman tallied ten team blocks and ten service aces in route to its second straight Southern Conference win. Furman will host The Citadel in a 2:00p.m. match Saturday at Timmons Arena, while the College of Charleston travels to Wofford for a Saturday afternoon match.
