Lady Paladins Defeat Appalachian State 3-1

Greenville, S.C.. – The Furman Lady Paladin volleyball team defeated Appalachian State 30-25, 18-30, 30-25, 30-27 in Southern Conference action Friday night at Timmons Arena.

Senior Laura Bush (Kingsport, Tenn.) led the way for the Lady Paladins with 15 kills and 10 digs. Furman also got double-doubles from Abby Simon (14 kills, 13 digs) and Carrie Rowley (12 kills, 10 digs), while junior Amber Montague chipped in with 10 kills and nine digs. Rosey Cashman recorded a match-high 16 digs for Furman.

Appalachian State's Katherine Dean paced four Mountaineers in double figure kills with 17. Chrissy Finch contributed 14 kills and 11 digs, while Kali Rumberger totaled 13 kills and 13 digs. Stefanie Panzer had 14 kills, 4 solo blocks and 6 block asissts.

With the win Furman improves to 17-11 overall and 12-4 in Southern Conference play. The loss drops the Mountaineers to 12-15 overall and 6-9 in the SoCon.

Furman returns to action when it hosts East Tennessee State at 1:00p.m. Saturday afternoon.
