Simon Named To All-Conference Team

Greenville, S.C. ­ Furman senior outside hitter Abby Simon was named First Team All-Southern Conference by the league's volleyball coaches Thursday evening. Simon was joined by teammate Laura Bush who garnered second team honors.

Simon, a native of Simpsonville, S.C., has paced the Lady Paladins this season with 458 kills, a 3.63 kills per game average and a .295 hitting percentage. This marks the third year Simon has been named to the all-conference team. Earlier this month the political science major was named to the Verizon Academic All-District III First Team for her work on the court and in the classroom.

Simon who has 1,557 career kills, ranks second on Furman's all-time kills list.

Bush, a native of Kingsport, Tenn., is also a three-time all-league selection. The history major ranks second on Furman's squad with 417 kills and a 3.36 kills per game average. Bush ranks third on the Lady Paladins' all-time kills ledger with 1,383 kills.
