FURMAN VOLLEYBALLERS REPORT ON FRIDAY

GREENVILLE, South Carolina -- The Furman volleyball team begins preseason workouts on Friday under third-year coach Michelle Young.

A total of 14 players, consisting of three freshmen, five sophomores, two juniors, and four seniors are expected to be on hand, giving Furman one of its most experienced squads in recent history.

The Lady Paladins expect to be paced this season by two-time All-Southern Conference selections Abby Simon (Simpsonville, S.C.) and Laura Bush (Kingsport, Tenn.). In addition, senior and three-year starter Carrie Rowley (Lighthouse Point, Fla.) will be an important part of the returning nucleus.

Freshmen Caitlin White (Middle Blocker), Erin Caylor (Outside Hitter), and Molly Rybak (setter) could also figure prominently into the Furman lineup. Rybak will vie with rising junior Michelle Cauldwell (Satellite Beach, Fla.) to replace Laura Hooks, who was Furmanšs full-time setter for the last three years.

The Lady Paladins open the 2002 season August 30-31 at the William & Mary Invitational in Williamsburg, Va.
