Laura Bush and Sara Komosinski Named Southern Conference Volleyball
Co-Players of the Week


ASHEVILLE, N.C. ‹   Furmanšs Laura Bush and Western Carolinašs Sara
Komosinski were selected as the Southern Conferencešs Volleyball Co-Players
of the Week for matches played through October 29.

Laura Bush helped Furman to a pair of wins in the Southern Conference last
week. She tallied 49 kills on 87 total attacks for a .448 attack percentage.
She hit .481 in the win over upstate rival Wofford, .389 in a five-game loss
to East Tennessee State, and .500 in a 3-1 win over Appalachian State. Bush
also recorded 35 digs, 11 total blocks, four assists, and a trio of service
aces on the week.

A junior middle blocker from Kingsport, TN, Bush leads the Lady Paladins in
attack percentage (.350) and total blocks with 48. She also ranks second on
the team in kills with 244 this season.

Western Carolina sophomore middle blocker Sara Komosinski recorded three
double-doubles in helping the Lady Catamounts to a perfect 3-0 record last
week. WCU defeated conference front runner Georgia Southern, as well as
completed season sweeps of Davidson and Chattanooga to remain undefeated at
home in 2001.

Komosinski tallied 41 kills (4.10 average per game) on 88 total attacks for
an attack percentage of .375. She added 37 digs, 10 total blocks, five
service aces and a pair of assists. She currently has career totals of 605
kills, 503 digs, and 203 blocks.

Bush and Komosinski will face off against each other Wednesday night when
Western Carolina travels to Greenville, SC, to battle the Lady Paladins in
SoCon action.
