FURMAN VOLLEYBALL EARNS 3-1 WIN OVER WYOMING

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- On the day the Furman football team dropped a disappointing 20-14 decision to the Cowboys of Wyoming, the Lady Paladin volleyball squad avenged the loss with a 32-30, 31-29, 22-30, 30-28 victory over the Cowgirls at the Golden Gate Classic.

Junior Abby Simon totaled a team high 19 kills and three service aces to lead the Lady Paladins over Wyoming. In addition, Laura Bush added nine kills and a team-high 20 digs, while Amber Montague added 17 digs, and Carrie Rowley totaled 10.

Furman outhit the Cowgirls in only one of the four games (the fourth), but had just six service errors to Wyoming's 12. All four of the match's games were decided by two points except the third, when the Cowgirls topped the Lady Paladins 30-22.

With the win, Furman improved to 1-1 on the year, while Wyoming fell to 0-2. Furman will host the Lady Paladin Invitational this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 7-8, at Timmons Arena.
