Furman Cross Country's Rebekah Potts Awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

GREENVILLE, South Carolina -- Furman cross country's Rebekah Potts has been awarded an NCAA Postgraduate scholarship worth $7,500, it was announced this week. The senior from Birmingham, Ala., is one of 29 NCAA female student-athletes who participated in a fall sport to receive the prestigious award.

Potts, a chemistry major who carries a 4.00 GPA, is a four-year letterwinner in cross country and is also a member of the Lady Paladin track team and Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll selection. She posted a season-best 11th place finish in cross country at the Milliken Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C., in September.

Potts becomes the 13th Furman student-athlete and just the third Lady Paladin to earn an NCAA postgraduate scholarship. Furman's last winner came in 2003 when men's tennis player James Cameron was honored with one of the 174 scholarships given annually.
