CROSBY TAKES SOCON 10,000M TITLE; POOLE FINISHES SECOND IN STEEPLECHASE;
FURMAN EARNS THREE ALL-CONFERENCE CITATIONS

BOONE, North Carolina -- Furman’s men’s and women’s track teams each finished seventh at the Southern Conference Championships on Saturday, recording 38.5 points and 21 points, respectively, with three Furman athletes earning All-Southern Conference laurels.

Junior Kevin Crosby paced the Paladin effort with a winning time of 30:59.30 in the 10,000m run taking home the Paladins’ first all-conference plaque, while freshman Katie Poole placed second in the women’s 3000m steeplechase with a mark of 11:29.61, to also earn all-league. Defending Southern Conference javelin champion Regan LeBlanc rounded out the Furman all-conference honorees with a third-place toss of 162’4” in the javelin.

Other top Furman finishes included a fourth place showing by Crosby in the 5000m run (14:58.25), a fourth place mark of 45’9” by Isaac West in the triple jump, and a fifth-place time of 39:05.51 by Whitney Sharp in the women’s 10,000m run.

The Southern Conference track and field titles were swept by the host Mountaineers of Appalachian State.
