Furmanıs Woodson, Woffordıs Borders Named MOP of Jack In the Box Furman Invitational Track Meet
GREENVILLE, South Carolina -- Furman sprinter Candii Woodson and Wofford sprinter and jumper Adrien Borders were named the Most Outstanding Performers Saturday at the Fifth Annual Jack In the Box Furman Invitational Track Meet.
Woodson won the 100m in 12.60, the 200m in 25.3, and was a member of the winning 4x100m relay squad. Borders, meanwhile, placed fourth in the 100m, second in the 200m, second in the 4x100m, second in the triple jump, and won the long jump with a mark of 22'4".
Five menıs meet records and two womenıs marks fell on Satuday. Chakosha Lance of the College of Charleston set a new meet standard for the hammer throw with a mark of 150'6", while Lindsay Barber of C of C recorded a discus throw of 146'9", breaking the old record by almost 20 feet.
On the men's side, Katon Bethea of Wofford set a new shot put standard with a mark of 52'3/4", while teammate Alex Love broke the 110m hurdles record with a 14.9 showing. In addition, Furmanıs Isaac West set a new triple jump mark with a leap of 47'7-1/2", while West and Brian Bratton tied for first in the 100m dash with a time of 10.7.The Paladins' Chris DeCamps also made history, running the 800m in a time of 1:56.32.
Other Furman victories on the day included Bev Robertsı first place finish in the 800m run (2:17.06), Leslie Elliott's winning mark of 33'3-1/2" in the triple jump, Whitney Sharpıs time of 18:24.91 in the 5000m run, and the Lady Paladins' 4x400m relay team of Kristan Edgar, Bev Roberts, Brittney Thompson, and Mary Jo Handley (4:03.77). The Furman men recorded additional wins in the 5000m run, when Kevin Crosby finished 24 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor in 15:03.81, and in the 4x100m relay. Reigning Southern Conference javelin champion Regan LeBlanc rounded out the Furman victoriies by winning his second consecutive javelin competition with a toss of 178'8".
