FURMAN MEN AND WOMEN WIN BULLDOG CLASSIC/SOCON PRE-MEET


CHARLESTON, South Carolina -- Furman's men's and women's cross country squads won The Citadel's combined Bulldog Classic/Southern Conference Pre-Meet Friday at the James Island County Park.

Tim Briles paced the Paladin men with a college-best time of 25:39 over the 8K course. He was second to Sean Dollman, an unattached runner who posted a 24:59 showing. In addition to Briles, Furman's 26-point team score was helped by a fourth-place showing by Kevin Crosby (26:28), and fifth-place time of 26:31 by Matt Goodwin, and a 27:07, ninth-place finish by Daniel Maurer.

In the women's race, senior Erin Howard placed second with a time of 18:45 to lead the Lady Paladins to a 26-point total also. Freshmen Carly Smith and Holly Harring finished fourth and fifth, respectively, while Tessa Cook placed seventh and Molly Mungovan finished eighth.
