FURMAN TRACK PLACES 16TH AND 17TH AT GREAT AMERICAN CLASSIC

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina -- Furman's Lady Paladin cross country team placed 16th in a field of 31 and the Furman men were 17th out of 29 at the Great American Cross Country Classic Friday night at Winthrop Farm in Charlotte, N.C.

Furman's Lady Paladin cross country squad was led by senior Erin Howard, who finished 112th in the field of 304 runners with a time of 19:26.4 over the 5K course. Furman's cause was aided by freshmen Holly Harring, Whitney Sharp, Carly Smith, and Kim Roush, who finished 114th, 140th, 142nd, and 152nd, to complete the Furman scoring.

In the men's 8K, the Paladins were paced by senior Tim Briles, who finished 41st in 25:34.5. Matt Goodwin placed 108th at 26:39.1, Kevin Crosby was 130th at 27:00.9, Nick Reinhardt took 176th in 27:54.1, Mitchell Gober was 185th in 28:13.9, and Jamie Sternberg placed 226th with a time of 29:58.3

Furman will run the Southern Conference Pre-Meet race next Friday, Sept. 27, in Charleston, S.C.
