Boone, NC--The Furman Mens' and Womens' Cross Country teams finished third and first respectively on Friday, in the Southern Conference Pre-Meet. Four of the Lady Paladin runners finished in the top ten, while Tim Briles finished tenth for the men.

Jill Braley was once again the lead runner for the Lady Paladins. Braley ran her fourth consecutive career best time of 17:35 in a 5k. Braley who was just honored as the Southern Conference Runner of the Week, has progressively improved from a 17:49 time to her current best. The Lady Paladins were able to win the meet with the help of Lory Gray (3rd), Dana Smith (6th), and Anne Marie Tominack (8th).

The Furman men were led by Tim Briles' tenth place finish in the 8k with a time of 26:03, while runners Matthew Goodwin and Grady Powell followed with 12th and 14th place finishes respectively.

The Furman Cross Country Teams will be in action again on Saturday October 7th in the Citadel Invitational.
