KENTUCKY AND WAKE FOREST TAKE FURMAN INVITATIONAL

GREENVILLE, South Carolina--The 28th Annual Furman Invitational Cross Country Meet was paced by The University of Kentucky men and the Wake Forest women in the Collegiate Open race, on Saturday. The event included 44 High School boys' teams, 34 High School girls' teams, 27 College men's teams, and 32 College women's teams. The Furman men finished ninth overall in the 8k, while the women placed sixth in the 5k race.

The Junior Varsity Boys' and the Varsity Girls' races were won by Brookwood High School, while the J.V. Girls race was won by Grayson H.S., and the Varsity Boys' race by Farragut High School.

The University of Kentucky men were paced by Thomas Morgan's sixth place finish and Hunter Spencer's 12th place finish, while Clemson (2nd), was led by David Adams' tenth place finish. The Furman men were once again led by Tim Briles, who finished 9th overall with a 25:51 time. The men's race included 235 runners.

The Women's college open race belonged to Wake Forest behind the lead of Sara Day's second place,17:34 finish. Wake Forest ended the race with five runners in the top 20. The Furman women were led by Jill Braley's ninth place finish, posting a time of 18:18. The women's race included 242 total runners.

The Furman Cross Country teams will be in action again on Saturday October 28th, at the Southern Conference Championships in Boone, NC.
