FURMAN CROSS COUNTRY WINS THE CITADEL INVITATIONAL

BRALEY TAKES INDIVIDUAL TITLE

CHARLESTON, South Carolina -- Furman's men's and women's cross country team swept The Citadel Invitational on Saturday, winning the men's team title and the women's individual and team championships.

Junior Jill Braley posted a time of 18:55 over the 5K course to win medalist honors by three seconds over Charleston Southern's C.J. Constantini. Furman's Lory Gray placed third with a time of 19:06.23, Dana Smith was fourth at 19:06.93, Erin Howard was fifth at 19:07.58, Lynley Roberts took sixth at 19:34.96, and Anna Day was eighth at 19:44.02, giving Furman six finishers in the top eight.

In the men's race, senior Daniel Hughes missed winning individual honors by one second, finishing in second place with a time of 26:32.58. Yuri Van der Heijden was third at 26:40.73, Tim Briles was sixth with a 26:57.15 time, and Patrick Dillon finished seventh with a 26:57.85 showing.

The Paladin cross country teams are in action again next Saturday, October 9, when they host the annual Furman Invitational Cross Country Meet at the Furman Golf Course.
