FURMAN TO HOST TWO CROSS COUNTRYMEETS

ONE TRACK EVENT IN 1999-2000

GREENVILLE, South Carolina -- The Furman campus will be the site of two cross country meets and one track and field competition, according to the 1999-2000 schedule released Monday by head cross country and track coach Gene Mullin.

The 27th annual Furman Invitational cross country meet, which features junior varsity, varsity and college races for men and women, is slated for October 9, 1999, on the Furman Golf Course. In addition the NCAA Regional Qualifier, which Furman has hosted the last 15 consecutive years, will take place November 13, also on the Furman Golf Course. Entry to both events is by the Doughboy statue near the campus lake, not through the golf course clubhouse.

For the second year in a row, Furman will host the Furman Invitational Track and Field Meet at the new Irwin Belk Complex for Track and Field on the Furman campus. The 2000 event is slated for April 8, and will feature a high school competition prior to the start of the collegiate event.
