Paladins Claim Furman Invitational Title, Lady Paladins Finish Third

Greenville, South Carolina -- The Furman men's cross country team placed three runners in the top 12 on its way to a first place finish at the Furman Invitational Saturday morning at the Furman University Golf Course. The Lady Paladins, behind the ninth place finish of Whitney Sharp, placed third.

Senior Kevin Crosby finished fourth in 26:00.78 to pace the Paladins, while sophomore Tyler Johnson finished seventh. Knoville Track Club's Patrick Gildea finished first in 25:10.16 followed by East Tennessee State's Bradley Yewer and David Haefner. Furman finished with 58 points to edge High Point (77) and East Tennessee (85).

In the women's 8K race, Charlotte's Cassie Ficken placed first with a time of 18:40.59, followed by UNC Asheville's Devon Nemire-Pepe and Micki Logue. Along with Sharp's ninth place showing, Furman placed five other runner among the top 21 finishers.

Charlotte won the women's race with 38 points, while UNCA placed second with 45.

Collins Hill High School claimed first in the varsity boys race Parkview High of Lilburn, Ga., took first in the girl's race. Ryley Mille of South Gwinnett finished first in the boy's race completing the 5K course in 15:57, while Sunday Ford of Wren High placed first in the girl's 5K in 19:37.
