Furman Track & Field Wins Six Events at Elon Meet

Greenville, South Carolina -- The Furman track and field team posted six first place finishes this past weekend at the Elon University Invitational.

The Lady Paladins' Candii Woodson and McKenzie Sharpe grabbed victories in the 100m and 400m events, respectively. Woodson posted a time of 12.69 while Sharpe won by a tenth of a second with a time of 59.37.

The Lady Paladins 4x400m Relay team of Sharpe, Mary Jo Handley, Brittany Thompson and Megan Isaacs took home a first place finish in 4:00.11. Lois Montague rounded out the Lady Paladin winners, claiming the women's high jump by clearing 1.53 meters.

On the men's side, Eric Albrecht defeated Marc Quesenberry and William Wilson of The Citadel with a time of 9:51.14 to take first in the 3,000m Steeplechase while Furman's 4x400m Relay squad claimed first in 3:22.77. The relay team included Matt Goodwin, Jamie Bach, Chris Decamps and Luke Gittemeier.

The Furman track and field team continues preparations for the Southern Conference Championships which take play May 1-2 in Cullowhee, N.C.
