GREENVILLE, SC -- The Furman women's tennis team remained undefeated in the Southern Conference after downing Wofford 4-3 Sunday. The win for Furman (10-7, 5-0 SoCon) marks the forty-sixth straight regular season conference victory. With the loss Wofford drops to 9-5 (4-3 SoCon).
Furman took the early advantage sweeping all three doubles matches. Caroline Bentley quickly gave Furman a 2-0 lead when she eased by Lauren Marie Whisenhunt 6-0,6-2 in the No.4 slot. Wofford then won the next three matches to gain a 3-2 advantage. Furman's Mary Neill Hagood kept the Paladins' hopes alive winning her match at No.1 over Wendy Rohr 6-3,7-5. Lady Paladin Jacqueline Eckert then sealed the victory in flight three downing Tara Hartness 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 in the only three set match of the day.
The Lady Paladins return to action next weekend when they travel to Elon on Saturday at 1 PM and UNC Greensboro on Sunday at 11.
