FURMAN WOMEN’S TENNIS TO HOST FALL CLASSIC THIS WEEKEND

GREENVILLE, S.C.- Six teams ranked in the top 75 at the conclusion of the 2003 season and 10 individuals ranked in the 2003-04 pre-season top 100 will highlight the field at the 17th annual Furman Fall Classic women’s tennis tournament, slated for this weekend at the Mickel Tennis Center on the campus of Furman University.

The Classic, which includes players from Furman, Clemson, Iowa, Middle Tennessee State, North Carolina, Penn State, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Wisconsin,consists of seven singles flights and three doubles flights.

Play on all three days will begin at 9 am with the doubles championships taking place on Saturday, and the singles finals on Sunday.

This year’s Fall Classic field is once again very strong with six teams nationally ranked at the end of the 2003 spring season. North Carolina finished the season ranked 9th, followed by Vanderbilt (13th), Clemson (19th), South Carolina (46th), Wisconsin (62nd), and Iowa (64th).
