FURMAN LADY PALADIN TENNIS DROPS 4-3 DECISION TO DENVER

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The 64th-ranked Furman women's tennis team dropped to 4-6 on the 2003 season when No. 69 Denver defeated the Lady Paladins 4-3 in Colorado Springs on Friday.

After the Pioneer women swept Furman in doubles action, Denver won three of six singles matches to earn the victory. The clinching point came at the No. 6 position, where Mary Altamirano held off Lauren Welch, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.

Furman will return to action on March 8 when the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets visit Mickel Tennis Center at 11:00 a.m.
