FURMAN WOMEN'S TENNIS STIFLES WOFFORD, 7-0

SPARTANBURG, S.C.-- The Furman women's tennis team won its 50th consecutive match against a conference opponent when the Lady Paladins defeated Wofford 7-0 in Spartanburg, S.C. on Sunday. With the win, Furman moves to 12-8 overall and 6-0 in league competition.

After the Lady Paladins swept Wofford in doubles action to take the match's doubles point, Furman won each of its six singles matches to claim the victory. The dual match was highlighted by a closely-contested No. 1 singles match, where Furman's Mary Kovarik edged Wendy Rohr, 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (15-13).

Furman also got straight-set victories from Mary Neill Hagood, Natalie The, Shannon Moore, Shellie Cochran, and Lauren Welch.

The Lady Paladins will return to Mickel Tennis Center to face Chattanooga at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
