GREENVILLE, S.C.-- On the final day of the 2002 Furman Fall Classic at Mickel Tennis Center, the Vanderbilt Commodores and Clemson Tigers led the way by taking two singles titles each, while Iowa and South Carolina followed close behind with one title apiece.

In the flight one final, Clemson's Julie Coin handily defeated Vanderbilt's Sarah Riske, 6-3, 6-2. Clemson picked up its second title in flight six, where Ashlea Bowen was leading Iowa's Jennifer Hodgman 5-0 before the Lady Hawkeye was forced to retire due to injury.

In the flight two championship, Lady Commodore Audra Falk earned a straight set victory against South Carolina's Ayako Suzuki, 6-1, 6-3. Vanderbilt's second title came with a 6-3, 6-3 Ashley Schellhas victory against Lady Gamecock Magda Wojdylo in the flight four final.

South Carolina's Danielle Wiggins defeated Vanderbilt's Kori Scott 6-4, 6-2 to take the flight three title, while Iowa's Gloria Okino beat Furman's Lauren Welch 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the flight five championship.

In flight three play, Furman's Natalie The recorded a 6-4, 6-0 win against Clemson's Richele LeSaldo, and Lady Paladin Shellie Cochran knocked off teammate Marti Morris 6-2, 6-3 in flight four action. While Lady Paladin Mary Neill Hagood dropped a 6-4, 6-2 decision to Iowa's Steffi Hoch in the second flight, Krista Thomson lost to Clemson's Anna Dolinska 6-1, 7-5 in the fifth flight. Furman's Shannon Moore was leading Middle Tennessee State's Emily Vest 7-5, 0-1 before she was forced to retire due to injury.
