FURMAN'S DUNIGAN OPENS NCAA TOURNAMENT PLAY MONDAY

STANFORD, CALIF. -- Furman women's tennis standout Megan Dunigan will take on Kentucky's Sarah Witten in the first round of the NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Singles Championship at 11:30 a.m. PT Monday.

Dunigan, Furman's all-time winningest singles player and its first individual NCAA Championship participant, learned her draw on Sunday. Dunigan completed the regular season with an undefeated singles mark and enters Monday's contest with a 24-1 overall record in 2002. Dunigan is 79-19 in four seasons at Furman.

Dunigan is one of 64 individuals selected to compete in the singles championship.

Earlier this week she received Furman's Edna Hartness Female Athlete-of-the-Year award as she guided Furman to its best season in school history - a 23-4 record and the program's first trip to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
