FURMAN LADY PALADIN TENNIS SILENCES DAVIDSON, 4-0

CHARLESTON, S.C.-- The 49th ranked Furman women's tennis team (21-3, 9-0 SoCon) advanced to the final of the Southern Conference Tournament when the Lady Paladins shut out Davidson 4-0 on Saturday afternoon at The Citadel's Earle Tennis Center. The win marks the 43rd consecutive conference triumph for the Lady Paladins.

Furman jumped on the Wildcats early when the Lady Paladins took the doubles point. At No. 2, freshmen Caroline Bentley and Mary Kovarik defeated Meggie Patterson and Katherine Hatch, 8-0, while the No. 3 duo of Gene Holman and Mary Neill Hagood overwhelmed Kelley Cantrell and Yasamine Hilu, 8-2.

Furman's Holman, Bentley, and Natalie The then won their singles matches in straight sets to seal the Lady Paladin victory.

Furman will face conference foe College of Charleston on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. for the league title. The Lady Paladins defeated the Cougars 6-1 earlier this season.
